Grobe retired from Wake Forest after the 2013 season. From the official announcement from the Baylor Athletics page.....

'2006 Associated Press National Coach of the Year Jim Grobe has been named acting head football coach, effective immediately. Grobe brings to Waco 19 seasons of Football Bowl Subdivision head coaching experience and a well-earned reputation for disciplined play, having enjoyed a record-setting 13-year tenure at Wake Forest (2001-13) and a successful six-year run at Ohio University (1995-2000). McCaw has asked that the University distribute the following statement on his behalf:

After much reflection and prayer, I have decided that a change in athletics department leadership is in Baylor University’s best interest in order to promote the unity, healing and restoration that must occur in order to move forward. I have always sought to put the University’s needs ahead of my own. My time at Baylor has been an incredible journey filled with some of the most remarkable people I have ever known. I am grateful to Baylor Nation for its support and dedication, and to all who have done so much to advance the athletics program.

May 20th 2016,

an update on how the fans see the OL situation going at the 49ers.

May 27th 2016,

Its been a crazy day.

We woke in Australia with the news that the investigation of Baylor University over its handling and management of a series of sexual assault allegations and crimes by law firm Pepper Hamilton was presented to the University Board of Regents, and that board has presented its initial response.

The published response from Baylor's Universities' website can be found here.

The 'Findings of Facts' can be found here.

* Head Coach Art Briles has been suspended with intent to terminate his job.

* Athletic Director Ian McCaw is sanctioned and placed on probation.

* President Ken Starr is demoted to Chancellor and will no-longer be in any management decision taking roles.

For the time being it seems there will be an interim Head Coach and that it will be an internal hiring, rumors are that Defensive Coordinator Phil Bennett will take up that role. The other football coaches are staying on for the time being. We will all know more over the next few days and weeks.

May 24th 2016,

Tomorrow begins another 3 day stretch of OTA's for the 49ers. The details on how they work are as follows......

On-field workouts may include individual player instruction and drills as well as team practice conducted on a "separates" basis. No live contact or team offense versus team defense drills are permitted. OTAs (May 17-19, May 24-26, May 31, June 1-2)
Teams may conduct a total of 10 days of organized team practice activity, or "OTAs." No live contact is permitted, but 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills with helmets are permitted. Maximum six hours per day, with a maximum two hours on field for any player.

May 21st 2016,

Baylor offensive line coach Randy Clements stopped by Santa Clara to visit with Blake at 49ers OTA's.

Coach Clements has had a lot of players make it to the NFL in his career so far.

Here and here.

May 18th 2016,

Sean is back in Sydney for a few weeks until Baylor starts its 2nd Summer Session in the 2nd week of July. If you want to catch up with him, then you have till then.

The 49ers began on-field Organized Training Activities (OTA's) today as a team. Blake spent the team period (non-contact) at Left Tackle.

Here is some footage of blocking drills.

May 16th 2016,

Most people today will be waking up to the news that fellow Australian Jarryd Hayne, has left the 49ers and will pursue 7's Rugby with the Fijian Rugby team.

May 4th 2016,

To give an idea of what is coming up for Blake, this link describes the 49ers off season dates.

The TL:DR version is that there will be a rookie mini camp for 3 days in the next 2 weeks followed by a series of OTA's (organized team activities) which are 10 days of non-contact practice spread over the month of May then a mandatory mini camp from June 7th to June 9th.

The team will have a few weeks off then return in July for training camp to prepare for the season. Blake will have a chance to return home between the mandatory minicamp and the start of official 2016 season training camp.

Sean will be returning home shortly for the annual offseason return home and be preparing for Baylor's 2016 preseason camp and season.

May 2nd 2016,

More later but to back up a few steps, Blake was one of 3 Baylor football players to be awarded membership to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Society.

'Qualifications for membership in the NFF Hampshire Honor Society include:
• Being a starter or a significant contributor in one's last year of eligibility (or a senior who has declared for the NFL Draft) at an NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, Football Championship Subdivision, Division II, Division III or an NAIA college or university;
• Achieving a 3.2 cumulative grade point average throughout entire course of undergraduate study; and
• Meeting all NCAA-mandated progress towards degree requirements
.'

May 1st 2016,
These tweets pretty much sum up the situation.

More on this tomorrow, and yes we'll have to change the header!

April 30th 2016,

An exciting start to the draft for Baylor with WR Corey Coleman being taken #15 to the Browns and the first WR overall. A huge achievement for him personally and for the program. Coach Art Briles and Coach Kendall Briles were at the Draft in Chicago with Coleman for the announcement.

The situation is no clearer for Blake. It will be tomorrow before a more confident and hopeful idea on where Blake might end up will be available. Green Bay, Kansas City, San Diego are still the more likely possibilities.

April 25th 2016,

As per last year, members of the Baylor football team visited Fort Hood for a day to experience military training life

There is 1 week remaining for the NFL Draft. Blake and his agent will be closely watching how teams draft in the early rounds to determine what may happen for him either being drafted or which teams should best be considered in free agency. There are multiple teams showing interest, visits to Kansas City and Green Bay place them high in consideration as well as Baltimore and Dallas.

April 16th 2016

2 weeks to go and most of the work for Blake is in the hands of others. Teams need to consider all the information they have and decide where all the prospects fit on their draft boards. It was disclosed on twitter and the team's website that Blake visited the Kansas City Chiefs, there are other teams strongly in the mix. April 28th the draft starts and goes for 3 days.

Baylor's Spring is over and the players are now in full study mode. Crazy to think that there are only 4 more weeks of school left for the spring semester. Sean is getting over his ankle injury which has occurred at the worst possible time to make an impact in the 2 deep depth chart. The #2 Center spot is up for grabs. Thankfully a good summer training period will prep him to make a challenge, so many new faces on the OL this year.

April 4th, 2016

The bears conducted a Spring scrimmage over the weekend at the stadium. Here's how it went.

Sean will possibly sit out the remainder of the Spring practices to allow his ankle to heal and rehab without risk of further injury.

March 30th 2016,

Due to the weather effecting last week's scrimmage, Baylor will do a family day event as advertised in the link below. Hard to tell yet if Sean will be healthy for the end of the spring practice schedule. Blake on the other hand has an in person meeting with an NFL coming up in the next few days.

March 22nd 2016,

Baylor's Spring practice continues, Sean will have to sit out a week with a sprained ankle; unusual for him to be injured, but there are worse times to be injured than Spring.

The team had to move an originally scheduled Friday Night scrimmage at the stadium to the indoor facility due to bad weather. A full recap can be found on the Baylor Athletics page.

For Blake, the period for Draft prospects between Pro Day and Draft is all about in person meetings. One never knows exactly who, and to what extent, a team is genuinely interested. So far the Ravens, Chiefs, Texans, Jaguars, 49ers and Patriots have shown the most interest. The only way to be sure about the level of interest will be when the Draft begins April 28th.

March 17th 2016,

Pro Day has arrived. I'll post updates later. Click the link to yesterdays post to watch live.

Blake's broad jump of 9'8" was better than any OL at the combine (9'7" was the top jump) and 32" in the vertical leap was equal 5th of the best vert from 2015 (OL did not jump at 2016 combine).

In the end, Blake had the #1 Broad Jump, #3 shuttle, #5 vertical leap, #9 3 cone drill and #14 bench compared to the 52 OL at the combine.

It was a pity that he didn't get a chance to do it at the combine and that he was nursing a hamstring injury. 3 weeks ago Blake strained his hamstring at a mock testing day and has had to severely alter his training since then. His 10 yard dash times in the 1.6 range and 20 yard dash times in the 2.8 range suggest that he would have been in the low 4.9 range for the 40. All at 6'6" and 315lb.

As it stands he demonstrated very well what sort of athlete he is and that is hard to complain about.

5 weeks till the draft!!!

March 16th 2016,

Baylor's Pro Day is tomorrow.

You can follow live online from the Baylor Athletics site with this link.

It will start around 2.30am Sydney time on Thursday morning.

March 8th 2016,

Its Spring break for Baylor students, and just one week away from Pro Day.

The Baylor Football twitter page had a nice upload of Blake today.

March 4th 2016,

Spring football is already humming along for the Baylor Bears. Sean has been taking reps as 2nd team Center behind Senior Kyle Fuller. Today is the first scrimmage of the year.

Blake is busy preparing for the Pro Day which will be on Wednesday March 16th. This will be early in the morning on Thursday 17th. If it runs as per last year, there will be a live stream available on the day which this blog will post a link to when we get closer. Last year's run sheet put the Bench first followed by Broad Jump and Vertical leap, then 40 yard dash, shuttle, 3 cone drill and finally positional drills.

February 26th 2016,

The quietest month for football draws to a close.

Baylor Spring Practice 2016 starts tomorrow for Sean. For Blake the Baylor Pro Day will be March 16th on campus.

February 20th 2016,

Baylor will start spring practice at the end of the month, it comes around fast, that means Sean is essentially a Junior now, that comes around fast too.

Here is a previously unseen pic of Sean from the 247 Bearstruth fan site. Its a good time of the year to join up to a subscription site.

January 19th 2016,

The Baylor football team is back into training today for the off season, so Sean is now essentially a Junior. Time sure does fly. They will build towards spring practice starting the last week of February.

Blake is working on multiple tasks on the way to the scheduled April 28-30th Draft.

January 13th 2016,

Baylor finished #13 in the Final AP Poll after yesterday's National Championship game.

Obviously not the result they were looking for in the end and after watching how Oklahoma and Michigan State fared in the Cotton Bowl no doubt there is a feeling of what could have been without so many injuries at the QB position.

The final grading table has been published on the Baylor Athletics website.

Some curious gradings, but overall Blake was the top or equal top grading in 4 games behind Outland Trophy finalist and AP All-American Spencer Drango who has 7. Blake was 2nd with 89.2, Drango was first with 90.4

January 12th 2016,

There is a lot to like about Blake as a prospect and its obviously an important relationship, that of agent and player.

* Blake ended his career with 37 starts from 37 games Left tackle (12), Left Guard (23), Right tackle (2).
* He only missed 4 practices his entire career. 1 in 2012 for sickness and 3 in spring 2014.
* Played in 3 different offenses; 2011 Run and Shoot, 2012 Pro-style, 2013-2015 Power Spread.
* GPA over 3.6 and academic all conference every year, both Mountain West and Big 12.
* Graded 2nd behind an Outland trophy finalist in 2014 and 2015.
* All conference Big 12 1st team in 2015 by ESPN and Bleacher Report.
* Set testing records at Hawaii and has the highest testing results of multiple disciplines of his position at Baylor regarding speed, jumping and agility.
* At 6'5" 3/8 and 320lb you'd think that SOMEBODY would like him.

January 10th 2016,

The boys are back in Waco. Sean starts school on Monday and Blake has to meet with some agents over the new few days. Depending how a few things go, Blake will be back home in a week or so or several. A lot of loose ends to tie up right now.

January 6th 2016,

Nice to see Pro Football Focus grade Blake well for the bowl game, 3rd overall on the offense.

ESPN released is 'Big 12 All Bowl Game Team'. Blake was named as one of the offense tackles, along with several team mates.

January 4th 2016,

The boys have arrived back home for a short stay. If you want to catch up with them you'll have to be fast as Sean has to return shortly to start school and Blake has to go and organize some things in preparation for the lead up to the NFL Draft in May.

In the mean time, a nice acknowledgement of how well the Baylor OL did in the bowl game from publication College Football News.

Add to that, Johnny Jefferson was listed individually at 5th spot. The full list can be found here.

DECEMBER BOWL GAME 2015

The diary blog page of Blake (#73) and Sean Muir (#74), brothers, former Sutherland Seahawk players and now Baylor Football offensive linemen.

Highlights from the game.

I'll try to post some gifs of Blake's better plays. Having a bit of trouble with the upload though.

The dart read has been a popular play for Baylor this year. This play was the 2nd play of the game for the Baylor offense.

There wasn't much pass pro in this game for the bears but Blake showed that he has adjusted to the Right Tackle spot without much problem.

This was probably Blake's nicest looking play. Blocking down on Power where he comes off the double team to a nicely placed peel back defender at the 2nd level.

A pretty easy job here on the front side of the Dart read.

Washing down on zone.

Its important to get good movement on a double-team.

Dart read, and doe-si-doe the defender whilst Blake Blackmar does a nice job as well.

This play just shows how dead UNC defenders were by the end.

December 31st 2015,

A tremendous and record setting win for Baylor 49-38 over North Carolina. All sorts of records were set by the offense, in particular, most rushing yards in a bowl game in history, and amazing 644 for the game. The offensive line was lauded for their performance. Read more here.

There were many many many great plays. Blake started his 37th career game, this time at Right Tackle.

December 29th 2015,

Tomorrow's game will be shown in Australia at 9.30am on ESPN. The team is the underdog due to the number of starters out, particularly on offense.

The boys take in the sights at Orlando's Disney World.

December 27th 2015,

The team is in Orlanda and practicing. Here is Sean taking reps in practice opposite Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year Andrew Billings.

Sean has probably blocked Billings more than anyone on Earth. Just about every day in practice these two will go at, such a great experience for Sean to have such a dominant player to measure against every day.

Pay attention as always to the BUFootball instagram page. Lots of great pics there, as always Blake has managed to get his head on their a bit.
